New Zealand: Youth Campaign to Ban Tobacco Displays

Cancer Society Smokefree Youth Ambassadors in New Zealand are involved in the campaign to ban tobacco displays. They have helped to raise the profile of this issue in the media and their community. Check out this article about Sarah, a Cancer Society Smokefree Youth Ambassador in the Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. She conducted a survey of young people's views on the campaign to ban tobacco displays and has been interviewed by her local papers and a national youth magazine about the survey. She will also be giving it to her local MP. And here is a story on a group of school students who have got involved in the campaign by signing a banner which they'll give to their local MP.

Lots of Youth Ambassadors have been meeting with their local MPs as well. You can see a list of activities online at: www.cancernz.org.nz/HealthPromotion/TobaccoControl/Campaigns/Youth.aspx
